Cookie Policy

Version 2.5 — Last updated: 5 October 2026

This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies StockQuarters Capital VOF (“StockQuarters”, “we”) uses on stockquarters.nl.

Summary: On its own website StockQuarters sets 6 kinds of cookies, all strictly necessary or functional: your sign-in session, the check of your login code, your language choice, two-factor recovery, your answer to the cookie notice and postponing the country question. In addition, the app keeps a few display choices in your browser’s local storage. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no social media cookies, and no third party sets cookies on our website.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are used to make the website work, to remember your preferences, and to give us insight into how the website is used.

2. Legal basis

The use of cookies is regulated in the Netherlands by article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act and in Belgium by article 129 of the Act on Electronic Communications, both implementations of the European ePrivacy Directive (article 5(3)). Under this legislation, strictly necessary cookies may be placed without consent. For all other cookies we ask for your consent in advance.

3. Which cookies do we use?

Strictly necessary and functional cookies

These cookies are needed to make the website work and to remember your preferences. They are placed without consent being required; you cannot switch them off within the website.

CookiePurposeRetentionParty
sb-<project-ref>-auth-tokenAuthentication — keeps you signed in and renews your session. <project-ref> is the fixed code of our database. If the session does not fit in one cookie, it is split across sb-<project-ref>-auth-token.0, .1 and so on. Sent over HTTPS only (Secure), SameSite=Lax; not HttpOnly, because the app also uses your session in the browser. At most 400 days; deleted as soon as you sign outFirst party (authentication via Supabase)
sb-<project-ref>-auth-token-code-verifierLogin-code check — proves, when you enter your login code, that the code was requested in the same browser. Only set when you request a login code. SameSite=Lax; not HttpOnly.Deleted as soon as you enter the code; stays for at most 400 days if you never doFirst party (authentication via Supabase)
NEXT_LOCALERemembers your language choice (Dutch/English)1 yearFirst party
sq-mfa-rcTwo-factor recovery — remembers that you signed in with a recovery code. Only set if you use two-factor authentication and sign in with a recovery code.12 hoursFirst party
sq-cookie-consentRemembers that you have seen the cookie notice, so we do not show it again on every visit1 yearFirst party
sq_country_prompt_snoozedRemembers that you postponed the question about your country of tax residence with “Later”. Only set if you click “Later”.30 daysFirst party

We keep your answer to the cookie notice in the sq-cookie-consent cookie. It is scoped to our main domain, so it applies to both the website (stockquarters.nl) and the app (app.stockquarters.nl) and you only see the notice once. It contains nothing but the fact that you have seen the notice, a timestamp and a version number — no identifiers, no profile — and, like any cookie, it is sent along with your requests to our servers. An older version of the website kept this answer under the same name in your browser’s local storage; if we still find that old copy, we delete it without carrying it over, and the notice asks you for your choice again.

Local storage in your browser (localStorage)

A few display choices in the app are kept not in a cookie but in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). That data stays on your device: it is not sent to our servers, contains no amounts, positions or transactions, and applies to that one browser only. A key is only stored once you use the setting in question, and stays until you change it or clear your site data. Like the cookies above, these are functional: they only remember a choice you made yourself.

Key(s)What it remembers
sq:themeYour chosen theme: light, dark or following your system
sq:hide-balancesWhether you have hidden amounts in the app
sq-sidebar-collapsedWhether you have collapsed the sidebar
sq-dashboard-today-filter, sq-dashboard-chart-collapsed, sq-dashboard-div-body-collapsed, pt:dashboard-chart-seriesHow you view the dashboard: the filter on the day card, whether the chart and the diversification card are collapsed, and which lines the chart shows
sq-div-include-cash, sq-div-xray, sq-div-full-layoutYour diversification choices: whether cash is included, whether the ETF look-through is on, and the layout of the full view
pt:positions-columns, pt:positions-column-widthsWhich columns you show in the positions overview and how wide they are

Analytics cookies

We use no analytics cookies. We do use cookieless web statistics and performance monitoring via Vercel (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights). These tools set no cookies and store nothing on your device, which is why no consent is required for them under the ePrivacy rules. We receive aggregated statistics only (page views, approximate country, device and browser type, load times). How we handle this is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Cookies we do NOT use

  • No advertising cookies
  • No third-party tracking cookies
  • No social media cookies
  • No cookies that follow your browsing across other websites

4. Third-party cookies

No third party sets cookies on stockquarters.nl. When you take out a subscription or manage your payment details, you go to a Stripe page. That page runs on Stripe’s domain, not ours, and Stripe sets its own cookies there, among other things for fraud prevention, under its own cookie and privacy policy. Those cookies fall outside this cookie policy and we cannot read them. More information: Stripe Privacy Policy.

5. Consent

We only use cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary or that remember a choice you made. These need no consent, so there is nothing we ask you to consent to. On your first visit to stockquarters.nl we show a short notice explaining this, with a link to this policy. There is no cookie wall: you get full access to the website.

Up to and including version 2.3 of this policy, that notice offered a separate choice for payment-related cookies from Stripe. That choice has been dropped, because Stripe sets no cookies on our own website (see section 4). Should we ever use cookies that do require consent, we will ask for it in advance and per category, and update this policy.

You can view the notice again at any time via the cookie settings at the bottom of the website.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

You can also manage or delete cookies via your browser settings. Local storage (localStorage) is cleared in the same place, under the site data for stockquarters.nl; the app then falls back to its default view. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause the website to stop working correctly.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

7. Changes

We may change this cookie policy, for example when we add new functionality or start using a different tool. The most recent version is always available at stockquarters.nl/cookies, including a version number and the date of the last change.
