Portfolio Performance with DEGIRO: how to get your data in

Portfolio Performance reads DEGIRO in two ways. As PDF: you download DEGIRO's account statement and transaction overview and open them with the PDF import, which according to its source code recognises both. Or as CSV: then you assign every column to a field yourself in a wizard. You find both statements in DEGIRO under Inbox.

Updated 5 November 2026

Can Portfolio Performance read DEGIRO?

Yes. Portfolio Performance is an open-source program you install on Windows, macOS or Linux1, and it has two routes for DEGIRO. The PDF route: its source code has an importer for DEGIRO's PDF statements, including the Dutch account statement and transaction overview.2 The CSV route: a DEGIRO CSV goes through the generic CSV wizard, because Portfolio Performance has no ready-made layout for DEGIRO.3

Worth knowing: Portfolio Performance's manual never names DEGIRO. What follows comes from the manual, the source code and DEGIRO's help centre, with the source and the day we checked it at the end of the article. Menu names are as in the English manual.

Step 1: download the statements from DEGIRO

Log in to DEGIRO and open 'Inbox' on the left of the screen. There you find the transaction overview, with everything you bought and sold on your account, and the account statement, with all activity on your investment account.4

DEGIRO shows a one-month period by default. Set the period to your full history, from your first transaction, and click the export button. Choose PDF for the PDF route or CSV for the CSV route.4

Route A: the PDF import

In Portfolio Performance, open File › Import › Import PDF Bank Documents and pick your PDFs; you can select more than one. If the program recognises a document, an 'Import Transaction' dialog opens.5

If a document contains a security that is not in your file yet, Portfolio Performance asks you to search for a supplier of historical prices. If it does not recognise a document, you get an error message listing all the banks and brokers it tried.5

Watch the currency. If the cash account has a different currency from the transaction, the import does not go through; the manual's example is a euro account with a transaction in Australian dollars. Then pick or create a cash account in that currency.5

Route B: the CSV wizard

Open File › Import › CSV files. The wizard has three steps. After picking your file you choose the type of data; Portfolio Performance has five: Account Transactions, Portfolio Transactions, Securities, Historical Quotes and Securities Account. In the same step you set the delimiter and the encoding, and whether the first line holds headers.6

Then you assign each column to a field: double-click the second row and pick the field, or '---' to skip a column. You set the date format per column. In the last step you choose, among other things, the securities account and the cash account.6

Which type of data fits which DEGIRO file is not in the manual. According to DEGIRO, the transaction overview holds your buys and sells and the account statement all activity on your account.4 Once a layout works, save it with the gear icon next to 'Type of data', so it is ready next time.6

What to watch

Language: you can use Portfolio Performance in Dutch; you pick the language in the preferences.7

Prices: Portfolio Performance has a built-in price provider. For it you create a Portfolio Performance ID (a verified e-mail address only), and you sign in again about every three months.8

Tax: in Portfolio Performance you record taxes on a transaction. We did not find a tool for Dutch box 3 or the Belgian capital gains tax in the manual.9 You can work out box 3 separately with the StockQuarters box 3 calculator, free and without an account.

Rather set nothing up?

If you want to see your DEGIRO data without setting up PDFs, columns or cash accounts, StockQuarters is an alternative. In the browser you upload one file from DEGIRO, the account statement as CSV, and StockQuarters reads it as it is; uploading the same file again adds no duplicate rows. StockQuarters keeps deposits apart from your result. How it works is on the StockQuarters DEGIRO page.

The difference in short: Portfolio Performance is open source and your data sits in a file on your own computer.10 StockQuarters is a paid service after a 7-day trial (see the prices) and stores your data encrypted in the EU.

Frequently asked questions

Can Portfolio Performance read DEGIRO?

Yes, as PDF or as CSV. According to its source code, the PDF import recognises DEGIRO's account statement and transaction overview. A DEGIRO CSV goes through the generic wizard, where you assign the columns yourself.

Which DEGIRO files do I need?

The transaction overview (your buys and sells) and the account statement (all activity on your investment account). You find them in DEGIRO under Inbox and download them with the export button as PDF or CSV. Set the period to your full history: DEGIRO shows one month by default.

PDF or CSV: which should I choose?

Portfolio Performance recognises a PDF by itself, if it knows the layout; otherwise you get an error message. With a CSV you assign the columns yourself, but you can save that layout for next time.

Does Portfolio Performance calculate my box 3?

We did not find a box 3 tool in Portfolio Performance's manual. With the StockQuarters box 3 calculator you can work it out separately, free and without an account.

Can I do this without installing anything?

Yes. StockQuarters works in the browser, on your phone too: you upload DEGIRO's account statement as CSV and set up no columns. After a 7-day trial it is a paid plan.

Read your DEGIRO export without setting anything up

Upload DEGIRO's account statement and StockQuarters works out your result and return, with deposits kept apart.
