From Flex Query to dashboard in 3 steps

XML or CSV, one file or two, recognised automatically.

1

Build your Flex Query

Client Portal → Performance & Reports → Flex Queries. One Activity Flex Query with the Trades, Cash Transactions, Corporate Actions and Transfers sections.

2

Upload the file

Drop the XML or CSV on the import page. Ran separate queries for trades and cash? Upload them together — we merge them.

3

Open your dashboard

P&L, dividends, diversification and performance, right after the import. Prices are kept up to date from then on.

Sound familiar, IBKR investors?

Four things you work out yourself as long as Client Portal is all you have.

×

Reports instead of an overview

IBKR gives you everything — Activity Statements, Flex Queries, PortfolioAnalyst — but you have to work out for yourself which report answers the question you actually have.

One dashboard, no report to choose

Upload your Flex Query and see value, unrealised and realised P&L, dividends and diversification side by side straight away.

×

Withholding tax disappears into the detail

A US dividend arrives as two lines: the gross amount and the tax withheld. Adding them up is your job.

Gross, withheld and net, kept apart

We pair a Withholding Tax line with the right dividend — even when the same holding pays two dividends on the same day. If we cannot, we report that line to you instead of quietly dropping it.

×

Deposits distort your return

Your NAV jumps after a deposit. That looks like a return, but it is your own money.

Cash flows kept strictly separate

Deposits and withdrawals are cash flows, never profit. Your return stays honest, including in the month you top up.

×

Several currencies, one number

Trade in USD, EUR and GBP and your cost basis sits in three currencies while your overview shows one.

Every line in its own currency

We read the currency and the FX rate per line from your Flex file and convert to euros. If the rate is missing we say so — we do not invent one.

What you get with StockQuarters + Interactive Brokers

Updated prices

Refreshed roughly hourly during trading hours. Your current portfolio value, independent of Client Portal.

Correct P&L

FIFO or weighted-average cost basis, selectable per portfolio. Deposits never count as profit.

Dividends with withholding tax

Gross, tax withheld and net, kept apart. Per month, per position, with yield on cost and an ex-date calendar.

MWRR & TWR

Money-weighted (MWRR) and time-weighted (TWR) return, next to the AEX, S&P 500 or MSCI World.

Diversification

Four donuts over the same positions — sector, region, currency and asset class — with a warning as soon as one name grows too large.

Multi-currency

We read both the currency and the FX rate per line from your Flex file. Even a commission billed in a different currency than the trade lands in the right cash bucket.

Exporting an Activity Flex Query — step by step

Set it up once; after that it is one click to run again.

  1. Log in to Client Portal (Lynx and Mexem clients use the same portal) and go to Performance & Reports → Flex Queries.
  2. Click + next to Activity Flex Query and give the query a name, for example "StockQuarters".
  3. Set the period to your full history — start at your very first trade. Anything you leave out is simply missing from your portfolio.
  4. Pick the Trades, Cash Transactions, Corporate Actions and Transfers sections and select every field in each. FXRateToBase is required: without it we have to skip your foreign-currency lines.
  5. Under Trades, set the option to Execution — not "Select All". Otherwise Flex reports the same fill three times.
  6. Under Delivery Configuration choose format XML (CSV is fine too) with date format yyyy-MM-dd, and save the query.
  7. Run the query with the ▶ icon, download the file and upload it in StockQuarters. Ran separate queries for trades and cash? Upload both files at once.
Note: this importer is new, which is why it is marked experimental. It is built on IBKR's documented Flex schema plus two public sample files — we have not seen a real customer export yet. If something goes wrong, share the file from the import page and we will fix it.

Frequently asked questions about Interactive Brokers + StockQuarters

How do I create an Activity Flex Query?

Log in to Client Portal and go to Performance & Reports → Flex Queries → Activity Flex Query. Pick the Trades, Cash Transactions, Corporate Actions and Transfers sections, select every field in each, set the period from your very first trade, and save. Run the query with ▶ and download the file.

Does this work for Lynx and Mexem too?

Yes. Lynx and Mexem are Interactive Brokers introducing brokers: you trade on the IBKR platform and build your Flex Query in the same Client Portal. Just pick Interactive Brokers when importing and name your account Lynx or Mexem.

XML or CSV — which should I pick?

Either works. XML has a slight edge: one file can carry every section at once and it also states your account's base currency, which helps if your account is not in euros. With CSV, IBKR gives you one file per section; just upload them together and we merge them.

Why does FXRateToBase have to be selected?

That field carries the line's exchange rate. Without it we cannot convert a foreign-currency transaction to euros, and we would rather leave a gap than fill in something that merely looks right. Those lines are skipped and reported to you separately.

Why does the Trades section say "Execution"?

Flex can report the same trade at three levels: Execution, Order and Closed Lot. Pick "Select All" and every fill appears three times. We filter that out, but with "Execution" your file is right to begin with.

What happens to transfers and currency conversions?

We deliberately skip them and report them in the import summary. A transfer moves shares with no price, so we do not know your cost basis — inventing one would report a 100% gain the moment the position is priced. A visible gap beats a wrong number.

What does it cost?

€5.99 a month or €59 a year, after a free 7-day trial. You enter a payment method when the trial starts; cancel before day 7 and you pay nothing.

Is my data safe?
